Century of Blessings with Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche

The year 2010 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910 – 1991), one of the most remarkable spiritual teachers of our time. To mark this special occasion events celebrating his life and paying tribute to his accomplishments took place in a year-long celebration which toured the globe. Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche, his tulku or reincarnation, along with Rabjam Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse’s grandson, gave teachings and empowerments and presided over ceremonies and offerings in Asia and abroad.

At every location Yangsi Rinpoche visited there were screenings of the new film Brilliant Moon, a documentary on the life of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and a display of sacred relics as well as talks, teachings, ceremonies and empowerments.

The Century of Blessings celebrations began with opening ceremonies at Shechen Monastery in Nepal on February 20, 2010. Celebration events continued in Nepal throughout March then moved to Bhutan during May and June. The tour moved to Europe in July and the USA in August. Our celebrations in Vancouver took place from August 19 to 24. The tour then continued to Mexico, back to Bhutan in September, to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia in October and to India in November and December, with the closing celebration taking place in Bodhgaya from December 28 to 30.

We hope the tour of Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche contributed to the continuation of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s enlightened activities and has inspired his students and many others.

Our Vancouver event was a very auspicious occasion for all involved! Many people travelled from across the world to see Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche and Rabjam Rinpoche and we received beautiful teachings from both great Lamas in Vancouver’s UBC Longhouse.
